Make sure you bring the following items you when you go to complete a job application:
- a blue or black ink pen
- your driver’s license
- your social security number
- the dates and addresses of all work experience (paid and volunteer)
- a list of starting and ending salaries for each previous job
- a list of schools attended (names, addresses, and dates attended)
- a list of references (names, addresses, phone numbers, position, relationship, and length of relationship of at least three people – be sure to get permission before using a reference)
- your resume (if you have one)
Never leave an area blank by stating "see resume." The employer has the application for a reason. Requiring the employer to flip back and forth between your resume and application may irritate them, and eliminate your chance for an interview.
